Radio Tour
Yesterday was the most interesting day I've had in a while. I did 19 radio interviews on the phone over the course of less than 9 hours - woah. After you do a ten minute break you realize that the hosts who are on the air for as much as three or four hours at a stretch without a teleprompter are working their tails off. It draws a huge amount of energy out of you.
A year ago I wasn't very comfortable doing these things. I actually found television easier than radio because radio hosts are more confrontational. Now I like it and can have fun with them, whereas last year I wasn't experienced enough to repartee during the election with all the radio hosts who wanted to use the segment for a monologue about Warren Buffett the fiendish tax-raiser. My role was to be the tennis backboard for them to hit against, and it would have been more fun if I'd grown arms and grabbed a paddle and hit back.
This year nobody has asked about taxes. They are still asking, why would Warren Buffett choose YOU as his biographer? Instead of mentioning my blonde hair when they ask the question, now they bring up Becky Quick.
I used to respond, Warren says he likes the way I think and write, but it didn't seem to satisfy anyone. Now I have a better -- and truer -- answer.
It's like this. Warren says he likes the way I think and write. And men like to show off in front of women.
